Looking at the pictures, you would think it was a matte finish, but it's not. It's glossy. But that's not the deal breaker here. From my experience with hardshell cases, from any brand, Speck, Incipio or Incase, some of them are faulty. Some doesn't fit and you have to literally force it on, or some of them rub, creak you name it. But most of the time I've run into cases where they fit perfectly. So, that being said, this was a faulty one. Everything fit, but when I open the lid, that lip that hooks onto the bottom of the computer touches that black, plastic hinge, and that was the deal breaker for me. For $50, it shouldn't have any faults. But like I said, it's plastic, moldings aren't perfect. I'm just going to assume I ran into a faulty one. So, I returned it and decided not to get another one because I mainly wanted a matte finish. So, I like the case, but didn't love it.
