Complies with TSA standards for checkpoint-friendly laptop bags . 15" X 12" X 2" Laptop Compartment . 15" X 12" X 2" Accessory Compartment When you get to the scanning tunnel leave your laptop in the bag (yes, TSA knows about our bag) and separate the two compartments at the bottom. Leave the handle and shoulder strap on top of the bag they are 100% X-ray transparent. Lay the flattened bag on the belt with the logos up and let it through the tunnel. The bag will probably beat you to the other side. When you get to the other side simply grab the handle and let the two compartments fall back together and be on your way. There are strips of Velcro on the inside that secure the two compartments.

Cons:
Little or no apparant padding or protection on the back of this bag. It seems like it's pretty much just the material between the laptop and whatever it's laying on. I don't know if a little eggcrate padding might have blown TSA compliancy, but I'm not about to plop this under an airline seat and have a little turbulence crack my laptop.

The over-the-handle piggyback feature should be on the back of the laptop compartment. By placing it on the front of the other side, it means that anything in the outside pockets, like a cell phone, would get crushed between the weight of the laptop and the luggage handle that you've piggybacked onto. Or it would crack from bending around the handle if you put it in the outside strap pocket.

After separating at TSA, bag will only fall back together with the velcro meeting back up if everything is flat inside it. If there's anything bulky or odd shaped inside, the velcro doesn't meet up and you're left with something that looks more like saddlebags. A couple of buckle straps could have solved that problem.

Pros:
It would probably fit under just about any airline seat.

It fits my 14" Toshiba laptop with lots of room to spare. Although I guess that could also be a con since that extra space isn't usable if you want to remain TSA compliant.
