Product Description
This elegant slim laptop brief is purpose-built to protect a 15-inch MacBook Pro (or a 15-inch PC laptop of similar dimensions), iPad, iPhone, essential accessories, as well as documents and personal items-in style. As a member of the Fibre Collection, its exterior fabric is made from an innovative natural fiber fabric that has been developed exclusively for the series. Waterproof and organically dyed, the unique properties of this material with its smooth yet rugged hand feel allowed the booq design team to achieve an extremely light and strong product with a timeless, luxuriously rugged elegance while conserving valuable resources. The Mamba slim 15 laptop brief incorporates a padded notebook compartment for your 15-inch MacBook Pro that is lined entirely in soft plush. While the bag's zippered front pocket, lined in premium nylon fabrics, is perfectly dimensioned for iPad (even inside a cover or folio case), flat items like magazines fit inside the bag's large back pocket which comes with a concealed quick-access pocket sized for iPhone (inside a case). This slim 15-inch laptop bag is equipped with an extremely durable 38 mm (1.5 in) wide seatbelt nylon shoulder strap fitted with a (re)movable shoulder pad, and comes with a metal-framed booq Terralinq serial tag which may help reunite a lost and found Mamba slim 15 with its owner.Mamba slim 15, gray Review
This is a great-looking, very well made bag. It is light but well padded and the construction is impeccable. I would not hesitate to buy another Booq product.I bought this bag because the flap on my messenger bags is starting to annoy me. I like to be able to unzip and reach into the top of the bag while it is on my shoulder. I also prefer a zippered top to an open top with a flap so this briefcase seemed ideal. I thought from looking at the Booq website that this bag was basically a briefcase version of their Mamba Courier bag and that I was simply trading styles by choosing one vs the other. The dimensions for the two bags are the same.
However, there are a couple of things I would like to point out that were not clear to me from the videos on the Booq web site.
1. The main zippered section of the bag is ONLY for your macbook. In the Mamba Courier, which I had assumed was just a messenger style version of this bag, the zippered compartment also contains the iPad compartment. In this bag the iPad/iPhone compartment is in an exposed pocket. This is great for ease of access but if you are using this bag in crowded places in a city someone could easily reach in and grab your iPad/iPhone. When Booq demonstrates loading the bag in the product video they keep the bag upright rather than tilting it toward the camera so it is not terribly obvious that the iPad is not going into the same section as the laptop in my opinion. The other downside of this design is that if you were to upend the bag or even just have it on its side, your items could fall out of this exposed pocket. The compartments are fairly snug which might help prevent this but it certainly isn't bullet proof.
2. The iPad compartment of this bag will not fit my iPad with either of the two cases I have for it. It only fits the naked iPad. I prefer to keep my iPad in a folio case so that was another problem for me.
So this is a great bag but not for me. I hope my clarifications help some people make the choice that is right for them the first time. Again, from what I could see in my brief time with the bag, Booq products are beautiful and seem very well made. I'm going to check out the Mamba Courier despite the flap and hope that one is a better fit for me.
