McKleinUSA HAZEL CREST 15604 Brown Leather Double Compartment Laptop Case Review

I needed a new lap top bag that looked professional, was durable and relatively affordable, and the McKlein Hazel Crest fit the bill. The bag is better looking in reality than on the site. I took a flyer on it, as it looks a little vinylish in the photos and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the leather actually is. It is a medium pebble grain that is reminiscent of a good quality bomber jacket. My weekday style tends toward corduroy and tweed and this bag fits in naturally with my general look. It is moderately spacious easily fitting my largish preaching bible (I am a pastor), my Greek new Testament, one or two other books, my prayer journal, a legal pad, glasses and sundry accoutrements as well as my lap top and power cord.

The bag seems durable thus far, and after a few uses broke in and became a little more flexible when cramming is necessary. A nice added bonus is that the bag sits solidly upright, whether full or empty. My only gripe is that the buckle straps are not adjustable, which would be nice for when extra stuffing is absolutely unavoidable. Overall it is a great bag for the money and every bit as nice as bags I looked at in stores costing $300+.

On the picture, I though it would be larger than the first Kensington bag (K64079) that I got 10 years ago and still using it. But when I received it on time. The size is exactly the same, only the arrangement of the pouches is different a bit. I don't mind since I like the first one a lot. Surprisingly, the option that let you access the inside compartment through the zipper opening is very useful. I guess some customer had notified this to Kensington. I travel a great deal and need to carry a bit more than the minimum. My standard setup is a carry-on roller bag with a backpack hung onto it, piggy-back style. The dimensions of the cover are slightly off allowing the cover to shake when you lift the laptop. The cover was also coated with scratches when I received it. And the material is a fingerprint magnet. The keyboard cover is too thick to type easily with it on. And the screen protector is impossible to apply without leaving at least 5 bubbles. I left it on despite the bubbles, but it was way too glossy causing too much glare in well lighted rooms. When I took the cover off, it left a few marks on my screen which I can see when it is in sleep mode. I decided to keep my laptop the way I bought it. After all, it looks much better that way. If I ever buy a cover again, Im not gonna buy one from this brand. But at least it is the least expensive cover set I found out there...
