I wanted something thicker than a vinyl skin to protect my mid 2011 13" MBA from scratches and minor dings. This case does the trick.
It snaps on easily and stays put. The ports, vents, and feet, all line up perfectly.
It is not 100% clear and I didn't expect it to be. It's a cloudy see through colorless plastic that has a "soft" texture to the outside. I like the matte finish because it makes the MBA lt less slippery.
My shell case came with a silicone keyboard cover that I tried. It fits perfect but seemed akward when typing so I took it off. When using my MBA in my "art room" I will definitely put the keyboard cover on and appreciate the added bonus.

I'm very pleased with the case and will probably order another one as a backup because I know it eventually will discolor or crack and I don't want to be without it.
