Product Description
Our line of Black Hole Faraday Bags have been designed to aid law enforcement, military, and consultants in the collection, preservation, transport, and analysis of wireless evidence. Wireless devices such as cell phones, GPS, netbooks, bluetooth devices, laptops, etc. are shielded from cellular, WiFi, bluetooth and radio signals by EDEC's proprietary ISOTech Shielding System when inside of our faraday bags. The ISOTech Shielding System is lightweight and durable for use in the field and the lab. - Faraday bags are generally used for evidence seizure. Our bags allow for light analysis, such as evidence preview. Faraday bags can also be used for personal data security, allowing you to keep devices on while network signals are blocked. - Faraday bags provide effective electromagnetic shielding and communications control for a wide range of wireless transmission and reception devices, such as cell phones (GSM, CDMA, 3G), PDA's, two-way radios, and blue tooth devices. - The Black Hole Data Bag Kit is the first faraday bag with a fully shielded USB 2.0 cable integrated into the bag, allowing devices to be charged and analyzed in the field or laboratory. Simply connect a device to the USB block inside of the bag and properly seal the top of the Data Bag. The shielded device can now connect to a computer, forensic analysis device, or portable power source via the external filtered USB connection at the other end. - Black Hole Data BagExternal Dimensions: 17" x 11.75" Bag & 20" Cable - Window Dimensions (Supported device size): 13.75" x 11" - Connectivity: Filtered USB 2.0, female internal, male external - Shielding Specifications:900 MHz: 40 dB1.8 GHz: 33 dB2.1 GHz: 34 dB2.4 GHz: 36 dB-Transport BagExternal Dimensions: 21.5" x 13.75"Usage Area: 18.5" x 13"Connectivity: N/AShielding Specifications:900 MHz: 62 dB1.8 GHz: 53 dB2.1 GHz: 60 dB2.4 GHz: 51 dBBlack Hole Data Bag Kit VECTOR - RF signal isolation, Shielded USB for forensic device analysis and charging Review
I was skeptical about this product when I read the description. I have tried bags with shielded cables before and found the shielding to be inadequate. I thought the price seemed high for a faraday bag product and I delayed buying it for a long time. But I finally broke down and tried this. The kit I received was more extensive than I first thought. In addition to the cabled bag, you get a phone cradle and magnetic stylus to operate touch screens. A second bag (labeled "Transport Bag") is provided for additional shielding when moving evidence (The cable bag isolated my phones adequately without the other bag and I've been using the Transport Bag as a separately large shielding bag). Overall I found the kit easy to use and would consider it as a light weight alternative to a Ramsey box than to a faraday bag. That makes the price easier to justify. The cradle and stylus system worked on phones after I got used to using the stylus through the plastic. There is no tablet touch screen cradle (even though the bag is large enough to shield a tablet) which is kind of frustrating. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Black Hole Data Bag Kit VECTOR - RF signal isolation, Shielded USB for forensic device analysis and charging" are high quality item.
